Dermot Louison has painted for over half a century, capturing on canvas the rural beauty of his home island of Trinidad & Tobago and other Caribbean locales.
Louison rose from poverty and a conflicted household to become one of Trinidad & Tobago’s most prolific artists. Combining his self-discovered love for painting with his passion for the outdoors, he carved his own niche into the art world and pursued his life with singular vision.
Here is that life as told by him, along with the original short story “Pantalon,” written by Louison and over 40 full colour plates capturing the beauty, simplicity and power of Louison’s paintings.
Louison: His Painted Words is a moving recounting of a life lived fully, as well as a window into the psyche of a Caribbean artist.
